TransGlobal Insurance Data Breach Investigation

Insurance customers were notified that their Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth may have been taken in a February cyberattack.

Noss & Russell, LLP Investigates TransGlobal Insurance Agency Data Breach Affecting California Customers

Noss & Russell, LLP is investigating a data breach at TransGlobal Insurance Agency, Inc., an insurance and financial services agency founded in Monrovia, California that operates offices in states across the country. According to the company's notifications, an unauthorized party gained access to its network and may have taken customers' Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth. If you received a notice of data incident from TransGlobal, this investigation may concern you.

According to TransGlobal's breach notifications, the company discovered on February 24, 2026 that personal information may have been accessed or acquired without authorization. A forensic investigation determined that the intrusion occurred on or around February 18, 2026.

The company's notifications state that the information involved may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, and dates of birth. TransGlobal has said it engaged outside forensic specialists, notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and is offering affected individuals twelve months of complimentary credit monitoring, identity monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services.

TransGlobal has filed breach notices with attorneys general in multiple states, including a filing with the California Attorney General on April 29, 2026, a filing with the Idaho Attorney General on April 16, 2026, and a filing with the Maine Attorney General on May 4, 2026. It filed with the California Attorney General a second time on July 20, 2026. The company has not publicly disclosed how many people were affected.

The firm is examining how attackers reached files containing Social Security numbers, what protections were in place around that information, how long the intruders had access before the company detected them, and what the second California filing means for the size of the affected group.

WHAT HAPPENED?

wHY THIS MATTERS

An insurance agency asks for everything. To place a life, health, Medicare, or property policy, customers hand over their Social Security number, their driver's license, their birth date, and their address — the precise combination that opens fraudulent accounts, redirects tax refunds, and builds synthetic identities.

Most of that information can't be changed after it is taken. A person can cancel a credit card; a person cannot cancel a Social Security number or a birth date. That is why twelve months of credit monitoring, while worth enrolling in, does not measure the exposure. Criminals who buy stolen identity data frequently hold it for years before using it, and the burden of watching for that day falls on the customer, not the company that lost the information.

wHO MAY BE AFFECTED

This investigation concerns people whose personal information was held by TransGlobal Insurance Agency at the time of the February 2026 breach, with particular attention to Californians — the company's business began in California and it maintains a substantial presence in the state.

You may be affected if you purchased or applied for insurance or financial products through TransGlobal or an affiliated agency, or if you are a current or former employee, and you received a notice of data incident dated April 2026 or later offering complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services.

If you received a notice and have since seen unfamiliar accounts on your credit report, received fraud alerts, had a tax return rejected, or spent time and money protecting your identity, your experience is particularly relevant to this investigation.
